January!

The holiday mayhem is over and its now January! Whew! Kids have started back up with homeschool and their new enrichment program, and J is in full swing working on the house! He's been framing the basement this week, and its fun to watch him build again - he loves it. I, however, am not a builder. He laughed at me the other day as I tried to help him with a chalk line and didn't get it straight. A chalk line! Well, I have other gifts. D hasn't been in his wheelchair as much as its been snowy around here and he really needs a large area to practice. I'd rather not be hanging out in the cold while he drives down a hill of snow half wheelchairing and half sledding, ya know? Once we're in the new house he'll have plenty of space to practice, both inside and out. He loves it though, so we're thrilled to have him use it more for daily living. His Physical Therapist was happily commenting today how he's just doing so well at sitting up on his own. He sits and plays for longer and longer each day and we are so excited! He still loves that Bumbo seat (seriously, miraculous invention, folks) and to hold onto the couch or our legs when playing, but he can sit. He can also push himself to sitting from laying on his belly...without legs or an arm...takes some serious core strength. He's a pro at stairs now. I'll be attaching a video of him going up and down the stairs at some point - love it. For now, enjoy the recent family photo and D's amazing painting skills!
