Solid Foundation

Our house construction is well under way and we are so excited to move in a few months! Dillon will be able to get (almost) everywhere in his wheelchair, which is such a great blessing! We can't wait until he can use his chair inside and use it for a purpose. One thing we really wanted before the house was completed was to write Scripture on the walls of our home - it seemed like the perfect way to build a solid foundation for our lives in our new home. As Deuteronomy 6:4-9 says, "Hear O Israel: The Lord your God, the Lord is one. Love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength. These commandments that I give you today are to be on your hearts. Impress them on your children. Talk about them when you sit at home and when you walk along the road, when you lie down and when you get up. Tie them as symbols on your hands and bind them on your foreheads. Write them on the doorframes of your houses and on your gates."

My kids handwriting. So awesome.

My handsome hubs starting it out

We invited a few friends and family to share in this moment with us. We are so excited and blessed to have this amazing home and pray that it is always used for the glory of the Lord. Some of the Scriptures we used in our home:

For the kitchen:
1 Corinthians 13:13 "And now these three remain: faith, hope, and love. But the greatest of these is love."
Hebrews 13:2 "Do not forget to show hospitality to strangers, for by doing so some people have shown hospitality to angels without knowing it."
Deuteronomy 8:3 "...man does not live on bread alone but by every word that comes from the mouth of the Lord."

For the kids rooms:
1 Corinthians 16:13-14 "Be on your guard; stand firm in the faith; be courageous, be strong. Do everything in love."
Philippians 4:13 "I can do all things through him who strengthens me."

This boy took his time and wrote out one of the longest verses ever. Absolutely adore him.

For the entry:
Joshua 1:9 "Have I not commanded you? Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid; do not be discouraged, for the Lord your God will be with you wherever you go."
Joshua 24:15 "...But as for me and my household, we will serve the Lord."

And we went wild with many more, writing them all over the house:
Psalm 4:8
Psalm 34:10
Jeremiah 29:11
Joshua 24:15
John 13:34
Deuteronomy 6:4-6
Philippians 4:8
1 Corinthians 16:13-14
Isaiah 41:10
Philippians 4:13
Ephesians 4:2-3
Micah 6:8

We also told our family that if they had verses they wanted to write to feel free!

And this boy...well, he just drew and drew and drew some pictures on the floor and wall. Love it. And here's to hoping he doesn't think he can now draw all over the walls in our current home :).
