Wheels Have Arrived

We got D's chair! Woohoo!! Here are a few photos from our wheelchair journey. And no, he won't be inside driving the chair (anywhere) for quite a while (months) - so don't worry about your toes just yet! It's practice time!

This photo was taken a couple months ago at our first wheelchair seat fitting. Needless to say, D was not happy. All those hands on him and for a whole two hours - poor kid!

And here is this last week. Yes, same hands on him. He clearly remembered the first two-hour visit, when he had to sit through being moved and shifted, taken in and out. This visit was longer...but it got better...especially when the kid got to drive!

Our wheelchair rep riding D's chair around "chasing" him...getting him excited for his turn!

Outside + Chair - Fidgeting Hands = Heaven

Practicing at home (too bad I didn't get the dog in the pic, he loves trying to chase her around.)

Needless to say, he's no Mario Andretti...yet. But it's so exciting to see him in his chair; progressing with what has immense potential to provide mobility, independence, and so much more. In the end, that's exactly our hope...and our prayer for him with this incredible blessing.
