Girly.

Yep, just changed the blog background to something that screamed "HAPPY!" to me. It's really girly though, and since both J and I blog on here, it won't last long. But for tonight, ha, let's just go with it and have fun! Blogging is so crazy. I love to read people's blogs...and I do enjoy writing on here...occasionally. Found some good ones tonight through Noonday. Noonday Collection seems to be a great company - I don't know much about them but like what I see so far. I'm hosting a Trunk Show in a few weeks, so if you want to purchase something, let me know. Here's what I read about Noonday on their website (www.noondaycollection.com):

"After visiting Uganda in February of 2010 and holding hundreds of children without moms and dads, Joe and Jessica Honegger (the founder) decided to adopt internationally (from Rwanda). Also on that visit, they met up with long time friends who had lived in Uganda for many years trying to create sustainable income opportunities for the Ugandan people. They asked Jessica if she would like to sell the fair-trade locally made goods in Austin, in order to raise money for the costly adoption process. Jessica agreed and the first Noonday Collection trunk show was born!
Word spread quickly about Noonday's envied products and the lives they impact. Other women wanted to style their friends while advocating for women and kids. Soon, the opportunity for women to start their own social selling business with a social impact launched and the Ambassador opportunity was born. Noonday Collection will soon be found in a home near you!
At Noonday Collection, we believe every child belongs in a family. While the owner is no longer raising money for their Rwandan adoption (though they think more adoptions will come), the vision remains the same. We advocate for the orphan by:
  • Providing jobs that create a pathway out of poverty for families. A stable income means a family is less likely to abandon their child.
  • Help families raise money for their own adoptions. We give 10% of trunk show sales directly to the adoptive family when they host a trunk show.
  • Aside from donating 10% towards qualified adoptive families, Noonday Collection also gives towards orphan care and prevention. Watch the video to see one of our beneficiaries.
  • The dream: Take YOU on a trip to visit artisans and visit orphans in their distress."
I figure since I'm writing about a girly company today I might as well have a girly blog-look. But, of course, you could be reading this and the blog is very non-girly. In that case, you aren't reading "today," but rather a day in the future when the blog has been changed back. Anyway, thanks for looking.

Oh, and I'm excited for lots of things today, by the way, and will post about them soon! Number one, little Dillon got his arm prosthetic today. It's Star Wars. And very cool. Number two, we got to buy gifts for two of our Compassion kiddos in Ethiopia to give to church members who are going there in a few weeks. Cannot wait to see pics of our sponsored kids getting their fun gifts! Later.
